CHIMNEY SWIFT TOWER

This tower serves as both public art, and a habitat for chimney swifts, a threatened species. The design mimics the organic shape of a hollow tree, the birds’ original habitat. The combination of wood and concrete materials represent the relationship between nature and industrialization. Located in the developing Switchyard Park in Bloomington, the project also serves as an educational opportunity for the public to learn about the chimney swifts.
